What are Nits?
Monitor Luminance is measured in candelas per square meter (cd/m²), sometimes referred to as "nits." Sunlight readable displays provide higher light output, sometime double the nits of standard displays, and often feature special filters to reduce glare.
400-700 nits would be required for use in normal daylight conditions, and at least 1,000 nits is required for viewing in direct, bright sunlight. Our High Brightness/Sunlight Readable Industrial Panel PCs and Monitors come standard with 1,000 nits.
Why Class 1 Division 2?
Class 1 Division 2, or C1D2, is one of the most important factors to consider when looking for rugged industrial PC to use in hazardous industries. Any electronics being used in a potentially dangerous environment or around flammable hazards must be C1D2 certified to prevent dangerous explosions and ensure worker safety.
The Classes define the type of explosive or ignitable substances which are present in the atmosphere such as:
- Class I locations are those in which flammable vapors and gases may be present.
- Class II locations are those in which combustible dust may be found.

SCADA Software
AVEVA Edge 2020, formerly known as Indusoft Web Studio, is a powerful HMI/SCADA software package for a wide range of industrial applications. With easy-to-use commands/tool bars and a Microsoft Windows™ environment, Aveva™Edge's feature-rich application puts you in the driver's seat of creating your industrial process.
Extended Temperature
Designed to handle harsh environments, the industrial grade components allow the device to operate with temperatures ranging between -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F) ensuring that the device functions no matter where they’re deployed or in what environment. With 1000nits standard, these high quality, sunlight readable/high brightness touchscreens are ideal for your light intensive environments. Our High Brightness Industrial Panel PC with Wi-Fi checked all the boxes for this System Integrator
During a large revamping of a utility control system, Aqua Sierra’s (an instrumentation and electrical contractor) customer North Tahoe Utilities needed a PC-based HMI to run a simple SCADA project as an interface. The PC needed to allow 3rd party software logging and reporting tools for their utility management system. The control room facility is climate controlled with large windows and bright overhead lighting. The remote facility did not have Ethernet cabling out to the PC location, however there was a Wi-Fi router connection nearby. Read how a Maple Systems PC met their 3 main requirements.
