The HMI520’s (C/M/T/TE) were originally sold from 2001-2009. These popular 5.6” models proved to be a best seller for Maple Systems. Our current HMI series include nine different 7” touch screen models that fit in the same panel cut-out. Let us steer you through the upgrade process.
Before you start down any upgrade path, first determine whether you have a copy of the existing project, or, if not, whether you can extract the project from the existing HMI520. You may need to contact the OEM or System Integrator that originally created the project for assistance with this step. The cable needed to extract the program from the HMI is P/N 7431-0098A ($95.00 List price) and is available by contacting our sales department. Please allow two days to build this custom cable.

Once you have the project, you will need to convert the it from EZware-500 to EBPro. We have a Tech Note to walk you through the process. If you are unable to obtain a copy of the project, you will need to re-create your project in EBPro.

Select New Hardware

Now that you have converted your project into EBPro, it’s time to select a new HMI. Because any of our 7” models will fit into your existing cut-out, selecting a new HMI is easy. Here are our top 5 recommendations:

1. The HMI5071L is a popular option because of its low cost, UL certification, and Advanced Feature set.
2. Another great option for those who do not require UL is the HMI5070B.
3. If you need CANbus, you can’t go wrong with the cMT3072X.
4. If Dual-Ethernet is a requirement, the cMT2078X will meet your demands.
5. The HMI5070LB model is Class I, Div 2, for those applications that require stricter certifications.
